Middlebury College invites applications for a 2022 Bilingual Assistant in Chinese as part of the Middlebury Language Schools. The role supports academics, student life, and events during the summer 2022 session, with on-site residency in Middlebury, VT.

The position offers in-person instruction, language immersion, lodging, and meals. The assistant will serve as a primary in-language contact, assist with language practice, coordinate activities, manage dorm life, and support staff across

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred for candidates.
• Native or near-native proficiency in English and Chinese (oral and written).
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as in-language point of contact for students and faculty.
• Provide language practice and support outside of class.
• Plan and implement team-building activities for classes or programs.
• Support adherence to language pledge and rigorous learning environment.
• Represent the School and Middlebury community professionally.
• Assist with dorm life and non-academic student support.
• Coordinate co-curricular events and campus activities.
• Provide tutoring and pedagogical support to students.
• Offer general IT support for faculty, guests, and students.
• Assist with lectures, performances, and events as needed.
• Translate School materials and documents.
• Administer the School office and scheduling of events.
