Job summary

Middlebury College invites applications for the 2022 Chinese Instructor position in the Summer Chinese School. The 8-week in-person session runs 6/24–8/19/2022.

The successful candidate will teach Chinese daily in an immersive environment, reside with students, and participate in cultural activities. The qualifications include a Master’s degree or higher, native or near-native Chinese, and the ability to lead co-curricular activities within the language curriculum.

Qualifications

• Master degree or higher; strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team.
• Native or near-native Chinese; ability to lead co-curricular activities integral to the language curriculum.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence in Chinese as a foreign language; summer program experience preferred.

Description

The Middlebury College Summer Chinese School is pleased to announcean opening for temporary Instructors of Chinese. The position isavailable during the summer 2022 in-person session scheduled to runfrom 6/24 to 8/19/2022. Our unique 8-week program combines acultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroominstruction. This is an opportunity to join a community oflearners, by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing andrecreating with students while reading, writing and speakingexclusively in Chinese. We are looking for faculty members with thefollowing characteristics: demonstrated teaching excellence inChinese as a foreign language, being native or near native inChinese and ability to lead co-curricular activities that areintegral part of the language curriculum.

This position is for the summer 2022. In addition to the salary,lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided. Applicationdeadline is December 2, 2021, but position will be open untilfilled.

Qualifications
