Job summary

Middlebury College invites applications for a temporary Bilingual Assistant in Chinese with the Middlebury Language Schools program on the Middlebury College campus in Vermont. The 8-week summer session blends cultural immersion with rigorous daily instruction and provides salary, lodging, and a meal plan.

Responsibilities span seven areas from program ambassador duties to student life, co-curricular events, tutoring, technology, communications, and office administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• Native or near-native proficiency in the target language and English, oral and written.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels.
• Willingness to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary in-language point of contact for students and faculty.
• Engage with students to provide linguistic practice and support outside of class.
• Design and implement team-building exercises for classes or program.
• Support Language Pledge and rigorous learning environment.
• Represent School, Language Schools administration, and Middlebury community.
• Coordinate events and host official guests and lecturers.
• Provide tutoring and tech/communications support as needed.
