Job Description

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Summer Camp Unit Leader to join our team at the West Philadelphia YMCA. This role involves positively impacting the summer camp community, helping children reach their potential, and enacting age-appropriate goals.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 18 years old
• High school graduate or equivalent, or enrolled in at least 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing
• Experience working with children and at least two seasons as a Y Camp Counselor or equivalent
• Enthusiasm, humor, patience, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage and motivate a team
• Ability to handle inappropriate behavior and recognize hazards

Responsibilities

• Monitor and train staff, ensuring effective program implementation and policy adherence
• Plan and oversee camp activities suitable for different ages, contributing to campers' growth
• Identify and address inappropriate behavior
• Maintain safety and effective communication with parents/guardians
• Promote diversity and inclusion in all activities
