Overview

The Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center is hiring a Summer Camp Unit Coordinator and offers the following benefits to part-time employees:

Location: 650 Dudley Street, Dorchester, MA

Pay Range: $21.50 per hour

40 hours per week

Work with the Education Manager to implement daily activities for children enrolled in the Camp.

Qualifications
  • Interest and appreciation for children
  • At least twenty-one years old
  • Completion of Camp Staff Orientation
  • Minimum six months experience working or volunteering with school-age children
  • Experience with Christian Education Programs such as Sunday School or Vacation Bible Study
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related fields preferred
Responsibilities
  1. Assist with daily activities including devotions, crafts, recreation, music, drama, meals, snacks, and trips
  2. Supervise and care for children
  3. Prepare Devotional Time weekly or biweekly
  4. Handle disciplinary actions per Camp Manual and report issues
  5. Set up and clean activity areas
  6. Manage daily child drop-off and pick-up
  7. Assist in counselor training and curriculum development
  8. Perform administrative tasks like ordering supplies and record keeping
  9. Support camp operations and ensure quality programming
  10. Lead staff meetings and debriefings
  11. Teach program curricula enthusiastically and thoroughly
  12. Model Christian behavior and represent the camp’s spiritual mission
  13. Engage in Christian spiritual conversations and refer individuals as needed
  14. Complete Camp Staff Orientation including Keep SAfe Training
  15. Perform other duties as assigned
