Schedule: 24 Hours, Days, 7a-3p, Every Other Weekend, Part-Time, Benefit Eligible




Position Summary:


Provide technical assistance to the nursing staff and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling and supply functions necessary for the operation of a 16-bed geriatric psychiatric care unit. Supports clinical staff with 15-min checks/continuous ligature rounds when possible



Responsibilities:


  • Proficiently functions as a technologist in the following areas as deemed competent: Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.


  • Ensures QC is within appropriate limits for each test prior to reporting patient results.



  • Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any "rare and improbable" test results to the attention of a Section Head or Lead.


  • Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.


  • Reviews daily specimen reports as appropriate.


  • Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.


  • Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) as needed.


  • Performs maintenance on instrumentation as needed.


  • Records QC and maintains QC records on all assays performed.



Requirements:


  • Education: High School Diploma.


  • Experience:


  • Minimum of 1 year of clerical experience required.


  • Computer skills required.


  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.


  • Working in an outpatient setting preferred.


  • Certification/Licensure:


  • BLS Certification required by DMH or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Must have CPR certification.


  • Mandatory De-escalation Education within 30 days of hire


  • Hardware/Software: Meditech


  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
