What You’ll Do

As a Lifeguard, you’ll play a key role in ensuring a safe, fun, and inclusive swimming environment for campers and staff. Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring water safety for all campers and staff.
  • Enforcing pool and waterfront rules to prevent accidents.
  • Supervising swimmers and assessing skill levels.
  • Performing rescues & administering First Aid/CPR in emergencies.
  • Engaging with campers to build confidence in the water.
  • Inspecting and maintaining aquatic areas & safety equipment.
  • Communicating with staff and parents about water safety and camper progress.
You will also support as an Assistant Camp Counselor when not supervising the pool. Responsibilities include:
  • Support all program areas as needed, you will be floating in several programs for the whole summer.
  • Supporting team-building challenges and outdoor adventures.
  • Manage groups with enthusiasm, patience, and creativity.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Certified Lifeguard – Current American Red Cross, YMCA, Ellis & Associates, or equivalent certification.
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certified – Must have up-to-date credentials.
  • Experienced – Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
  • Strong swimmer – Must pass a swim test demonstrating rescue skills.
  • Alert & Attentive – Strong observational skills and ability to stay focused for long periods.
  • Great with kids – Experience working with children is a plus!
  • Adaptable & Calm Under Pressure – Can handle emergencies and maintain a positive, encouraging atmosphere.
Schedule and Requirements
  • June–August (exact dates vary by location)
  • Monday–Friday, 36–40 hours per week
  • Must be fully vaccinated and up to date on all immunizations.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, respond quickly to emergencies, and work in an active, outdoor environment.
  • First Aid & CPR certification required (training reimbursement provided).
