Responsibilities

The Medical Assistant assists physicians with patient assessments, examinations, and treatments. Responsibilities include managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and recording vital signs. Acts as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction and maintains supplies.

  1. Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, aligning with Jefferson's values.
  2. Escort patients to exam rooms and verify identification.
  3. Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history.
  4. Stay proficient with information technology systems within scope of practice.
  5. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and perform EKGs and venipuncture/injections as needed.
  6. Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
  7. Order and maintain clinical supplies for smooth office operations.
Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant Certification required within 6 months of hire
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire (American Heart Association preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare setting preferred
  • Additional requirements for NJ applicants and internal Einstein applicants as specified
