Job summary

Camp Galileo in Manhattan Beach is seeking a Summer Camp Director for a seasonal, part-time role in 2027. You will lead a dynamic team of educators and staff, open and operate a Galileo location in your community, and deliver exceptional camper and family experiences through strong program quality and customer care.

The role requires ownership of camp launch, day-to-day operations, scheduling, and payroll, with a strong focus on safety and staff development.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with students in an education setting (out-of-school time, teaching, education administration, camps/recreation, etc.)
• Minimum 1 year of experience managing or supervising adult staff
• Proven experience creating safe, inclusive environments for children and building trust with families
• Proven experience setting clear expectations, giving ongoing feedback, and coaching staff to improve

Responsibilities

• Lead camp launch and ongoing operations from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap-up
• Oversee daily camp operations and parent communication while ensuring an exceptional program
• Train and mentor staff (7–40 people) and manage scheduling, payroll, and performance reviews
• Ensure camper safety, program fidelity, and strong partnerships with families and partners
