Job summary

YMCA of the USA is seeking an Activities Director for Camp Cosby in the United States. This summer position focuses on the care, safety and development of campers and staff, with direct supervision of Aquatics, Equestrian and Mini Bikes Directors and all activity leaders.

The role emphasizes mentoring, policy adherence, and building a positive staff culture while ensuring all activities run with trained leaders and proper equipment.

Qualifications

• Belief in the YMCA mission and high moral standards.
• Teamwork and enthusiastic service orientation.
• 2 years of camp/youth work experience.
• Experience as a leader or supervisor.
• Ability to cover camp grounds and participate in activities.
• Ability to work with staff from diverse backgrounds.
• Train and mentor staff.
• Know and follow CampCosby/YMCA policies.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise staff training sessions.
• Support staff to inspire great leadership for campers.
• Ensure safety, health, welfare and happiness of staff and campers.
• Lead or attend staff meetings and facilitate daily activity schedules.
• Coordinate staff check-in/out and activity/photo schedules.
• Ensure all policies and procedures are followed across camp.
• Maintain accurate headcounts and supervise groups at all times.
• Collaborate with camp leaders to deliver a safe, high‑quality program.
• Document staff and camper concerns and communicate with leadership.
• Ensure timely execution of meetings, activities and meals.
• Foster a caring environment for staff and campers socially, emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
