Job summary

Middlebury College's Summer Arabic School is seeking a Bilingual Assistant in Arabic to support students and staff at Mills College in Oakland, CA during the 8-week summer session. The role combines language assistance with residential life and program operations in a culturally immersive setting.

Responsibilities include tutoring, coordinating co-curricular activities, and assisting with events, logistics, and communications in coordination with faculty and the School Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
• Native or near-native proficiency in target language and English, oral and written.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels (students, professionals, and colleagues).
• Must be willing to take initiative and assume responsibility, but also work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Serves as in-language point of contact for students and faculty.
• Provides language practice, encouragement, and support outside of class.
• Designs and leads team-building activities and cultural events.
• Provides tutoring and pedagogical support to students.
• Offers IT and technical support for faculty, guests, and students.
• Manages communications across platforms (email, web, social media).
• Administers the school office and schedules events.
