Job summary

Middlebury College Summer Arabic School invites applications for a temporary Bilingual Assistant in Arabic. The position is available during the summer session and located on the Mills College campus in Oakland, California.

The program combines immersion in language with rigorous daily instruction, with lodging and a complete meal plan provided in addition to salary. The role includes serving as the primary in-language contact, supporting students and faculty, and representing the program in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Ability to work with people of all ages and levels.
• Willing to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Act as in-language point of contact for students and faculty.
• Engage with students, provide linguistic practice and support.
• Design and lead team-building exercises and events for the program.
• Support students' commitment to the Language Pledge and rigorous learning.
• Represent the School and Middlebury community in official capacities.
• Represent the School administration in dorms and social spaces.
