Job summary

Free People is seeking Apparel Design Interns for Summer 2027 to assist from concept to final sample across categories. You will contribute to trend research, sketching, fabric sourcing, and presentation building, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced fashion design environment.

The URBN Summer Internship Program runs 6/7–8/13 at our Home Office in Philadelphia, offering exposure to senior leadership and opportunities to interview for a full-time position for those who qualify.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
Strong interest in women’s fashion and the Urban Outfitters aesthetic.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; CLO 3D or similar software is a plus.
Excellent sketching and visual communication skills.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Collaborative, curious, and eager to learn in a creative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Assist in creating mood boards, color palettes, and seasonal concept presentations.
Support the design team with sketching, CADs, and technical packages.
Help source fabrics, trims, and inspiration materials for upcoming collections.
Organize and maintain sample libraries, swatch books, and design archives.
Participate in fittings, design reviews, and cross-functional meetings with buying and production teams.
Conduct trend and market research to support design direction and innovation.
Assist in preparing line sheets, spec sheets, and internal presentation materials.
