Job summary

Free People is seeking Summer 2027 Design Interns to assist in developing seasonal collections from concept to final sample. You will collaborate with senior designers, contribute to trend research, sketching, fabric sourcing and presentation building in a fast-paced fashion environment.

Interns will work across Print Design, Embroidery/Embellishment and Textile/Fabric Development, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced designers in a dynamic, creative setting at URBN’s Home

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
• Experience with CLO 3D or similar software is a plus.
• Excellent sketching and visual communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating mood boards, color palettes, and seasonal concept presentations.
• Support the design team with sketching, CADs, and technical packages.
• Help source fabrics, trims, and inspiration materials for upcoming collections.
• Organize and maintain sample libraries, swatch books, and design archives.
• Participate in fittings, design reviews, and cross-functional meetings with buying and production teams.
• Conduct trend and market research to support design direction and innovation.
• Assist in preparing line sheets, spec sheets, and internal presentation materials.

Role Summary

Free People is looking for Print, Craft & Textile Interns to join us for the Summer. As a Free People Design Intern, you’ll assist in the design and development of seasonal collections, from concept to final sample. You’ll contribute to trend research, sketching, fabric sourcing, and presentation building, gaining hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of fashion design.

Free People Apparel Design is seeking creative, curious, and passionate design students to join ourSummer 2027 Design Internship Program. This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic, collaborative creative environment while contributing to the design and development of products across our portfolio of distinctive lifestyle brands.

Interns will work alongside experienced designers and cross-functional partners, gaining exposure to the creative process from concept through execution. Depending on their area of focus, interns may have the opportunity to contribute to research and trend development, concepting, design development, technical execution, presentations, and other aspects of the product creation process.
