Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking a Human Resources Intern for Summer 2027. The role will rotate through talent & recruitment, payroll, and general operations, offering hands-on experience in a start-up HR setting.

You will assist with recruiting, participate in university recruiting activities, and gain exposure to payroll systems and HRIS tools while supporting onboarding and day-to-day HR programs. This paid internship provides growth via real projects.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Communications or a related field.
• Interest in working in a start-up organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Collaboration: Works effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• Adaptability: Responds effectively to evolving business needs and opportunities.
• Ability to handle multiple projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruiting and talent acquisition, including coordinating interviews and communicating with candidates.
• Participate in career fairs, intern programming, community outreach, and university recruiting activities, as applicable.
• Gain exposure to payroll systems, HRIS platforms, timekeeping systems, and payroll reporting tools.
• Assist with payroll preparation and processing by reviewing employee information, time records, and payroll-related documentation.
• Review time and attendance records for accuracy and help identify missing or incorrect entries.
• Support the payroll team with payroll audits and reconciliations to help ensure accurate employee pay.
• Support the HR team with day-to-day HR programs, projects, and administrative activities.
• Support new hire onboarding and orientation activities to help create a positive employee experience.
• Maintain and update employee records, HR databases, and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Assist in creating HR communications, presentations, reports, and program materials.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
