Job summary

American Family Insurance in Madison, WI, is offering a Summer 2027 Data Engineer Internship that blends in-office and hybrid work. The program spans 10–14 weeks, starts mid to late May, and ends in August.

Interns will build data pipelines, analyze data quality, and collaborate across engineering and business teams to deliver reliable analytics data. You’ll gain exposure to multiple business areas, networking, coaching, and a possible one-time housing bonus depending on proximity to an AmFam

Qualifications

Must be a current student at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD.
Major/program must align with internship role.
Strongly prefer candidates graduating in August 2027, December 2027 or May 2028.
SQL, Python and cloud technologies like GCP or AWS.

Responsibilities

Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
Build and enhance data pipelines using SQL, Python, and cloud technologies like GCP, AWS.
Analyze data issues, perform quality checks, and support troubleshooting and resolution.
Work with engineering and business teams to document solutions and deliver reliable data for analytics and reporting.
