Job summary

AFMIC American Family Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. is offering a Summer 2027 Intern in Enterprise Data - Enablement, Service & Support in Madison, WI.

The internship runs 10 to 14 weeks, with a potential housing stipend and a possible hiring bonus near AmFam offices. You will perform exploratory data analysis, build scalable data pipelines, work with data-driven applications, prototype emerging technologies, automate data quality checks, and contribute to big data visualization projects while

Qualifications

• Must be a student at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD.
• Major/program must align with internship role.
• Knowledge of SQL and experience with data stores (RDBMS, analytic databases, scalable document stores).
• Hands-on programming in Python or Java with ETL workflows and data-driven solutions.
• Familiarity with Linux scripting to automate workflows.
• Understanding of database internals (indexes, binary logging, transactions).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and Infrastructure as Code (Docker, CloudFormation, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Develop exploratory data analysis and scalable data pipelines.
• Collaborate on cross-functional teams to deploy data-driven applications and products.
• Prototype emerging technologies for data ingestion and transformation.
• Build and maintain tools to boost productivity for app development and client teams.
