Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to contribute to real-world projects across AV technology.

You’ll assist in the design, development, and testing of software solutions for multiple applications, including ground control systems, user interfaces, data pipelines, and simulation tools. This internship is ideal for rising students pursuing a BS or MS in CS or software engineering, with strong Python, C++, or Java fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong programming fundamentals in Python, C++, or Java.
• Familiar with IDEs such as Visual Studio, Git, Eclipse.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team; strong communication.
• Familiar with Agile development practices and version control.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, coding, testing, and debugging of software components and systems.
• Contribute to development of tools and applications for AV robotics and aerospace platforms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to integrate and test new capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and use of version control and defect tracking tools.
• Help develop scripts to automate team workflows and efficiency.
• Learn and apply best practices in software development processes, including Agile methodologies.
• Support development of prototypes, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.
• Attend team meetings and learn to estimate development effort and timelines.
