Job summary

AeroVironment in California is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working on real-world projects across the AV technology portfolio. You’ll assist in designing, developing, and testing software solutions for multiple applications—ranging from ground control tools to data pipelines and simulation tools.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming knowledge in Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio, Git, Eclipse.
• Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, coding, testing, and debugging of software components and systems.
• Contribute to development of tools and applications for AV robotics and aerospace platforms.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to integrate and test new capabilities.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and use of version control and defect tracking tools.
• Help develop scripts or automation to improve team workflows and efficiency.
• Learn and apply best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies.
• Support development of prototypes, simulations, and demonstrations.
• Attend team meetings, contribute ideas, and learn to estimate development effort and timelines.
