Job summary

McKim & Creed, Inc. is actively seeking an experienced SUE Technician II to locate underground utilities and coordinate field crews.

You will interpret maps, operate GPR and electromagnetic locating equipment, and work with contractors to ensure safe excavation and installation. The role requires 3–5 years in utility locating, strong knowledge of underground utility systems, and the ability to walk long distances in various terrains and weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of progressive experience as a utility locator or SUE technician.
• Ability to interpret maps and understand underground utility systems.
• Familiarity with locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and GPR.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utility lines using maps, records, and other resources.
• Operate SUE field equipment and follow safety protocols.
• Collaborate with construction crews to ensure safe excavation and installation of utilities.
• Maintain accurate records of utility locations and updates.
• Identify hazards or issues through regular inspections and assessments.
