Job summary

Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking a SUE Field Technician II for our Austin or San Antonio office. The role requires a minimum of two years of SUE experience and involves field investigations to accurately locate and assess subsurface utilities.

You will operate GPR, electromagnetic locators, and vacuum excavation equipment, reading plans and records to mark utilities, and coordinate with project managers and clients. Travel and after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of SUE utility designating and locating experience.
• Familiarity with APWA color codes and ASCE 38-22 is preferred.
• Proficiency operating GPR and electromagnetic locating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain utility locating equipment (GPR, locators, vacuum excavation).
• Conduct utility locating and designation investigations and mark utilities.
• Read and interpret utility plans, drawings, maps, and records.
• Prepare field sketches, maps, and reports detailing location, depth, and type of utilities.
