Job summary

Sante Group Companies is seeking a Full‑Time Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Phone Counselor to join our crisis intervention team in Timonium, MD. You will provide supportive counseling, information and referrals, crisis intervention, and intake screening for callers across Baltimore City and counties.

Responsibilities include triaging crisis calls, conducting assessments, deescalating callers over the phone, planning crisis care, and documenting accurately while adhering to Lifeline and Crisis Now

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field, OR ten years of crisis hotline experience.
• CAC‑AD Certification or eligibility to receive the certification.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the SUD field.
• Knowledge of substance use disorder providers and levels of care.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming crisis calls and obtain client information.
• Conduct assessments and dispatch appropriate resources when needed.
• Deescalate clients in crisis over the phone.
• Develop an appropriate and realistic crisis plan and complete follow‑up tasks.
• Effectively communicate clients’ needs while making internal agency referrals.
• Adhere to Lifeline Standards, Crisis Now Standards, and accrediting bodies’ best practices.
• Network with local SUD providers to develop and expand resources.
• Know and familiarize with community resources, both mental health and non‑mental health.
• Abide by confidentiality and reporting regulations.
• Complete documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Education
