Job summary

BI-County Community Action Programs, Inc. is seeking substitutes for Walker and Pine River Head Start preschool classrooms. You will assist in classroom activities, help with setup, and read to children to support learning and safety.

Applicants must be 18+, possess a high school diploma or GED, and pass a DHS background study. Preferred experience with children birth–5 years old. Earned Sick & Safe Time may apply for on-call substitutes.

• DHS background study required; MN Rule licensing expectations may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in developing learning environments.
• Set up classroom materials and keep spaces clean and safe.
• Read aloud to children and supervise activities.
• Soothe children experiencing big feelings and support emotional development.
• Work as substitutes for Head Start preschool classrooms in Walker and Pine River.

A Day in the Life

• You’ll work with the classroom staff to develop the learning environment, assisting in classroom activities.
• You’ll help set up classroom materials; keep the classroom clean and safe; read to children; organize and supervise classroom activities and soothe children who are having big feelings.

Qualifications

• You must have a strong commitment to BI-CAP’s values of collaboration, innovation and compassion for those we serve.
• Applicants must pass a DHS Background Study and meet DHS & MN Rule 3 licensing requirements.
• Must be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Preferred experience working with children ages birth – 5 years old.

Wages

Looking for substitutes for the Walker and Pine River Head Start preschool (3-4 year olds) classrooms.
On-call sub rate: $20.47/hourly. Eligible for Earned Sick & Safe Time.
