Job Description
Deliver instruction, provide support to staff and students, and perform related job duties and responsibilities during the absence of the regular teacher.

Qualifications
- Education/Certification: High School or GED recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency. Must have a satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting and background check. (Non‑refundable fee paid by the applicant.)
- Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of students in a professional manner.
- Ability to effectively deliver lesson plans while maintaining classroom management.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions with limited supervision.
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team to provide assistance to campus and staff.
- Ability to use basic office and classroom equipment including calculator, computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone, and other applicable equipment.
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Conduct instructional activities outlined by the teacher.
- Maintain the regular classroom schedule.
- Follow district guidelines for classroom management, discipline, and confidentiality.
- Support the mission of the school district by serving as a positive role model for students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Classroom Management and Organization
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication with teachers and principals.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.

Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
- Frequent exposure to indoor and outdoor varying climate conditions (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise, low or intense illumination, and vibration.
- Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.).
