Job summary

RCM Healthcare Services is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support K–12 schools in Charleston, South Carolina. This in-person role provides classroom instruction during school hours with a daily rate of $135-170.

Under direction of the school leader, you will deliver instruction, supervise students, and follow lesson plans. Responsibilities may include grading, supervision, and general classroom support across varying grade levels and subjects.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or higher required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Substitute teaching authorization, if required by state or district.
  • Experience working with children or in educational settings preferred.

Job description

RCM is hiring Substitute Teachers to support K–12 schools and districts. This is an in‑person role providing classroom instruction during school hours.

Daily Rate: $135-170 day

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Position Summary

Under the direction of the school leader, the Substitute Teacher provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Follows lesson plans, maintains a productive and orderly classroom environment, and supports student learning and engagement. May perform additional duties such as grading assignments, supervising students, and providing general classroom support as assigned by the school site. Assignments may vary by grade level, subject area, and school setting.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule/Shift:
    • Full Day: up to 8 hours
    • Half Day: up to 4 hours
    • School Year: As needed, including daily and long‑term assignments
    • Schedule follows the assigned school calendar
  • Key Duties:
    • Provides learning experiences and teaches the lessons of study prescribed by the classroom teacher or administrator.
    • Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
    • Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
    • Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school/ District policies goals and objectives.
    • Follows school protocols and procedures.
Requirements
  • Credential: Requirements are determined at the school level. All candidates must meet applicable school and state requirements, including successful completion of a background check and any required onboarding or training prior to assignment.
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or higher required.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Substitute teaching authorization, if required by state or district.
  • Experience: Experience working with children or in educational settings is preferred.
