Job summary

Acelero Learning is seeking a Substitute Preschool Teacher to support Head Start classrooms for children aged 3 to 4. The role collaborates with a second teacher to cover a classroom of 14 to 20 children across multiple locations in the county, on an as-needed basis.

The position emphasizes curriculum delivery, safety, family engagement, and adherence to center policies. Fall 2026 start in Delaware with a comprehensive benefits package and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Physical exam and background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Follows the curriculum as scheduled during the time of coverage.
• Plans and implements learning experiences that advance literacy, phonemic awareness, language, and numeracy.
• Maintains a safe, healthy learning environment with proper supervision.
• Supports social and emotional development using positive guidance.
• Interacts with children in a supportive manner.
• Encourages family involvement in Head Start.
• Works effectively with other teachers in the classroom and center.
• Follows center policies on health, safety, nutrition, and operations.
• Ensures punctuality and communicates scheduling changes to the Center Director and Specialist.
