Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college (48 credits) or higher required.
• Completion of a Rhode Island-approved Teacher Assistant program required.
• Ability to lift and provide direct student support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructional support and reinforce academic skills based on individual students’ needs.
• Support students in accessing and participating in classroom instruction and activities.
• Assist with behavioral support and implementation of classroom behavior management strategies.
• Assist with accommodations, modifications, and other supports identified in students’ IEPs.
• Assist students with equipment, technology, and instructional materials as directed by the teacher.
• Provide supervision of students in the classroom and during drills, meals, and field trips.
• Provide personal care and health-related assistance as required by the assignment.
• Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.
