Job summary

Westerly Public Schools in Westerly, Rhode Island seeks a Substitute Teacher to support classrooms district-wide, providing instructional assistance and mentoring as needed. This role offers flexible scheduling and per diem pay.

Candidates should have two years of college (minimum 60 credits) or an Associate/Bachelor degree; 3 years of relevant experience is preferred. Per diem and long-term substitute opportunities are available, with drug testing in the employment process.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Completed at least two years of higher education (minimum 60 college credits) or hold an Associate degree or hold a Bachelor’s degree (in any major!)

Responsibilities

• Manage student learning in accordance with the goals of the District.
• Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
• Organize students for effective instruction.
• Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
• Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Comply with and support school and District regulations and policies.
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with District policies and practices.
