Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Current Rhode Island RN license is required.
• Rhode Island School Nurse Teacher Certification required.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum of three (3) years nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between students, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate health services and resources.
• Collaborate with parents, students, healthcare providers, and community agencies to support student health needs and ensure legal compliance.
• Administer first aid, medications, and specialized medical treatments per laws and district policies.
• Conduct mandated health screenings (vision, dental, scoliosis).
• Provide care for ill, injured, medically fragile, and special needs students.
• Review immunization records to ensure state compliance.
• Develop individualized healthcare plans including IEPs and 504 accommodations.
• Maintain confidential student health records and documentation.
• Prepare reports on student health status and compliance requirements.
• Provide staff training on CPR/First Aid, emergency preparedness, and child abuse awareness.
