Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Eligible for Rhode Island Substitute Teacher Certificate (RI STC).
• Prior experience working with school-age children preferred.
• Must possess tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality (FERPA/IDEA).
• Dependable, punctual, and able to accept assignments on short notice.
• Proficient with basic computer and classroom technology.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to district policies and directives.
• Reports to the assigned building on time and checks in at the main office.
• Reviews and follows lesson plans and delivers instruction for the class period or day.
• Maintains a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom.
• Takes and records accurate attendance.
• Supervises students in classroom and assigned duties (hallway, cafeteria, recess, arrival, dismissal).
• Follows health, safety, emergency, and evacuation procedures; maintains confidentiality of student records.
• Implements accommodations identified in IEPs and 504 plans as directed.
• Collects and secures student work, leaving notes for the teacher.
