Purpose

The Nutrition Support substitute position assists in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of meals to students in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines. The primary purpose of this position is to support the district’s school nutrition program by providing safe, efficient, and respectful food service that promotes student health, wellness, and a positive school climate. unlimited sub positions open at all locations varies depends on staffing at the time; all subs will work 4 hours

Qualifications
Training and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in food service, institutional kitchens, or school nutrition programs preferred
  • Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices preferred
  • Willingness to complete required training related to food safety and school nutrition programs
General
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with students and staff
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in food preparation areas
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Must complete required background checks and district‑mandated training
Reportability

The Nutrition Support employee reports to the Food Service Director or designee and works under the daily supervision of the Cafeteria Manager or Building Administrator.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of meals in accordance with established menus and portion guidelines
  • Serve students in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Assist with basic food preparation duties, including washing, portioning, and packaging food items
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, serving areas, dining areas, and equipment
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies
  • Monitor student meal accounts and assist with point‑of‑sale procedures, if assigned
  • Supervise students during meal service and maintain orderly dining areas
  • Follow all district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information, including meal eligibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director, Cafeteria Manager, or designee
