Job summary

Alvin ISD is seeking a Substitute Nurse to provide health services to students in the absence of the regular campus nurse. The role supports student success by promoting health and well-being across the school community.

Requires a Valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license and CPR certification. Excellent communication in English and ability to work independently with district policies are essential. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

• School nursing experience preferred but not required.
• Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and first aid to students.
• Administer medications and treatments according to district policies.
• Maintain accurate student health records and report concerns as needed.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration.
• Consult with Lead Nurses or other campus nurses for support and guidance as necessary.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) License or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License.
• Valid CPR Certification.

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Practical knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques relevant to children.
• Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while following district policies and procedures.

Experience

• School nursing experience preferred but not required.
• Training will be provided.
