Job summary

Hastings Public Schools seeks a Substitute Nurse to deliver essential in-school health services. You will provide first aid, administer medications, and respond to health emergencies across elementary and secondary buildings.

Responsibilities include maintaining health records, coordinating with families and staff, and ensuring confidentiality while documenting care and following orders. This is an intermittent, non-contracted role with hourly compensation options for LPNs and RNs.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with school data systems.

SUBSTITUTE NURSE

RESPONSIBLE TO: Health Services Supervisor

Schedule & Hours

• Intermittent hours as needed in health offices (elementary or secondary building) and field trips.
• Health office hours are based on school calendar. Length varies depending on need: up to 8 hours a day.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid care of injured or ill students/staff.
• Administer medications and treatments to students (e.g. glucose testing, medication administration, tube feeding, etc.) following written orders. Document care provided in electronic data base.
• Respond to health emergencies, administer CPR and first aid as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and data privacy
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff
• Maintain and update health records, immunization files, and records.
• Conduct health care assessment and decision making based on medical knowledge and licensure

Compensation/Benefits

• LPN's - $25.98 per hour; RNs - $31.42 per hour
• This position does not include benefits as it is a non contracted position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse License, Current First Aid and CPR certification, Computer Literacy
