Job summary

Jay Peak in Jay, VT is seeking an experienced Substitute Cosmetologist for part-time or full-time seasonal and year-round positions in the Spa. The role emphasizes guest service, teamwork, and professional presentation, with a focus on manicures, pedicures, and potential hair/makeup support for events.

Applicants should hold a Vermont Cosmetology License (Esthetician licensed candidates considered) and have 12 months of Vermont practice; resort experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Resort or hospitality experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manicures and pedicures per licensing standards (may assist with hair/makeup for events).
  • Work cooperatively with spa team to deliver seamless guest experiences.
  • Present a warm, professional persona to guests and colleagues.
  • Maintain high professional image in dress, grooming and language.
  • Adhere to sanitation, neatness and sanitary standards.
  • Keep workstations organized and complete daily cleaning obligations.
  • Follow schedules and demonstrate strong work ethics and reliability.
  • Be flexible with varying hours, including weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs manicures & pedicures according to licensing standards (may also assist with hair styling & make up application for group events & weddings).
  • Interacts cooperatively with other spa team members to provide a seamless guest experience.
  • Present a warm and professional persona towards guests and co-workers.
  • Adheres to high professional image standard such as: dress, grooming & language.
  • Practices the highest standard of sanitation, neatness and visual presentations.
  • Maintains organized workstations.
  • Completes daily check list of cleaning obligations and abides by all county, stated, and local laws and regulations regarding sanitation, cleanliness and safety.
  • Adheres to work schedule and has good work ethics.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • Equipment utilization: Pedicure stations, nail stations, implements and sanitation equipment.
  • When licensed to do so, may also perform additional treatments such as massage, facials, etc.
  • Varying work hours – must be available on weekends.
Special Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must have valid State of Vermont Cosmetology License (Esthetician License could also be considered), with at least 12 months of practice in Vermont. Past resort or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • Must be available for predefined work schedule to include 2 week days per month (December through March) and availability to work 3 days during the weeks of Christmas and Presidents Week for a total of 14 working days throughout the winter season.

  • Salary is based on 30% commission & 18% gratuity on treatment services ranging from a combined $19.00 to $36.00 per base service.
