Job summary

Jay Peak Resort seeks a Wedding Stylist to deliver beauty services for guests, including bridal spa treatments, styling and makeup. You will collaborate with the wedding coordination team to ensure high-quality experiences.

Licensed in Vermont with at least 12 months of practice is required; resort or hospitality experience is preferred. Weekend shifts and on-site work at Jay Peak are expected, with opportunities for perks and team events.

Qualifications

  • Past resort or hospitality experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide bridal spa services, blow dry styles, up-dos and makeup for wedding clients.
  • Care for and maintain equipment; request maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the spa area to licensing standards.
  • Upsell cosmetics by understanding client needs and preferences.
  • If licensed, perform massage, facials, manicures, pedicures & waxing.
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

SUMMARY

The Wedding Stylist provides beauty services for guests by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will work closely with other members of the wedding coordination team to provide bridal spa services, blow dry styles, formal up-do's, and makeup application for wedding clients.
  • Properly care for and maintain equipment needed for treatments, including requesting necessary maintenance in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of cosmetology area of the spa, to licensing standards and requirements.
  • Recommends potential products or services to management by collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs. Up sell cosmetics to clients.
  • When licensed to do so, may also perform additional treatments such as massage, facials, manicures, pedicures & waxing.
  • Varying work hours, must be available on weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related, or unrelated to original position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have valid State of Vermont Cosmetology License (Esthetician License could also be considered), with at least 12 months of practice in Vermont. Past resort or hospitality experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have valid State of Vermont Cosmetology License (Esthetician License could also be considered), with at least 12 months of practice in Vermont. Past resort or hospitality experience is preferred.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
