Job summary

Royal School District 160 Royal High School Kitchen in Royal City, Washington is seeking a substitute cook to support school meals operations. Under supervision you will prep, cook, set up serving lines, maintain salad bars, clean the kitchen, and assist with related duties.

This role requires flexible hours and a team-oriented approach. Starting immediately, with pay per the PSE salary schedule at Cook step 1—$16.87 per hour.

Qualifications

• Ability to accurately compute basic math functions including fractions and decimals.
• Complete tasks with minimal supervision and maintain personal hygiene.
• Be punctual, dependable, and a positive, team player.
• Must obtain a food handlers permit within 14 days of employment and keep it current.
• Physically capable of lifting 20–25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally; able to work safely with hot surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform varied semi-skilled food service tasks: prep, cook, set up serving lines, salad bars, cleanup, wash dishes, and carry garbage to dumpsters.

Job Description

• Under supervision, perform varied semi-skilled food service tasks, including but not limited to: food preparation, cooking, set up serving lines and salad bars, clean up kitchen area, wash dishes, carry garbage to dumpsters.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
• Work additional hours as may be requested by the food service supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to accurately compute basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Be punctual, dependable, maintain good personal hygiene, and have a positive, team player attitude.
• Must obtain food handlers permit within 14 days of employment and maintain current card status thereafter.
• Perform physically demanding work as required to meet the needs of the foodservice department. Requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and bending; job requires regular lifting of 20-25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• The job also requires the ability to work safely with hot surfaces.

Terms of Employment

Salary: Per PSE –Salary Schedule- Cook step 1- $16.87 per/hr.

Hours: Hours will vary
