Position: Substitute Bus Driver

Location: Newton Community School District

Compensation

• Hourly Route Substitute Base Pay: $32.72 (approximately 3 hours per day, Monday - Friday)
• Hourly Activity Trip/Field Trip Pay: $20.55 (additional hours available year‑round for activity trips and extracurricular activities)

Qualifications

• Valid or eligible to hold a CDL driver’s license with passenger "P" and airbrake endorsements.
• Good driving record.
• Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and US DOT Medical Examiners Certificate.
• Ability to pass DCI criminal history background check and prework physical requirements.

Performance Responsibilities

• Ensure passenger safety, welfare, discipline, and protection.
• Report problems or unusual occurrences to the Transportation Supervisor.
• Adhere to all federal, state, local, and district regulations, including random drug/alcohol testing.
