Leidos in Chicago, IL is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer Intern to join our design team. You will assist on electric transmission and substation civil/structural projects, work with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians, and help implement client standards.

Under supervision, you will perform calculations, help develop foundations and BOMs, apply NEC requirements, and contribute to drawings and documentation.

Competenze

• Enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering degree program with a structures emphasis.
• Completed at least one course in structural analysis, one in steel or concrete design, and one foundation/geotechnical course.
• Knowledge of transmission and substation civil/structural design a plus.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well in a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail oriented.

Mansioni

• Create substation civil/structural calculations.
• Design supporting foundation structures.
• Develop Bill of Materials based on design criteria.
• Apply the minimum requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code to the design processes.
• Work with client standards to implement design.
• Assist development of standards for clients as needed.
• Work with a designer/drafter to create the required drawings for each project.
