Job summary

Kiewit is seeking Civil Engineering students for a Transmission Line Engineer internship, supporting substations, transmission and distribution projects from 12kV to 500kV. You will contribute to engineering design, documents and EPC work across multiple offices, under experienced engineers.

The role emphasizes teamwork, design accuracy and timely communication with project teams, vendors and clients, with opportunities to learn advanced design tools and standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university
• 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred
• Basic knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards
• Proficiency with common Word processing, Spreadsheet, and Email software

Responsibilities

• Work with project team to create all design documents and drawings, including transmission line design criteria for PLS-CADD
• Generate bills of materials and apply field mark-ups of as-built drawings
• Assist with building, modifying and analyzing transmission line, pole and tower models in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS-TOWER
• Assist with developing construction drawings, material specs, and loading packages for vendors
• Review project schedules with the project engineer to keep on track
• Follow document management system and corporate engineering standards
• Coordinate project activities with engineers, customers and other stakeholders
• Ensure high quality and accuracy of work and propose solutions to problems
