Job summary

Delmarva Power & Light Co. is seeking a Substation Shift Technician trainee for a program involving 18 months of instruction and field rotations across substations. The role covers operation, maintenance, and high voltage testing in transmission/distribution environments.

On-the-job and classroom training will cover safety, procedures, and standards to prepare for certification and progression within the substation discipline. Shift work, overtime, and emergencies are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Training, education and/or experience in a technical or vocational field; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
• 1-year minimum construction or electrical related experience.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with basic electricity.
• Skills/Abilities: Ability to interpret and accurately follow technical instructions.
• Ability to handle changing shifts (night/day work).
• Ability to use hand tools, electrical measuring instruments, operating tools, and test equipment.
• Physical ability to perform assigned job duties (e.g., lift 25 lbs+).
• Willingness to work under adverse conditions and overtime; pass background check.
