Job summary

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is seeking a Substation Shift Technician trainee. The program includes 18 months of instruction with 8-week field rotations at multiple sites, learning substation operations, safety practices, and test procedures.

On-the-job and classroom training cover high voltage testing, grounds, and switching. You’ll support equipment maintenance, live phasing tests, and perform diagnostic tasks under supervision.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent training or experience.
• 1 year minimum construction or electrical related experience.
• Familiarity with basic electricity.
• Ability to interpret and follow technical instructions.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform substation maintenance and field operations under supervision.
• Assist Senior Shift Substation Technicians in troubleshooting and repair.
• Conduct live phasing acceptance testing under guidance.
• Record data during inspections and maintain equipment tests.
• Adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
