Job summary

Aecon is seeking a Substation Field Technician to support daily construction activities on North American transmission projects in Houston, TX. You will assist with IFC interpretations, conduit and grounding work, and ensure work is carried out safely and to Aecon’s standards.

This role requires at least 2 years of substation field experience, hands-on knowledge of conduit installation, grounding, trenching and cable management, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of substation field experience and willingness to learn.
• Exposure to conduit installation, grounding, trenching, cable tray installation, structural steel, apparatus, and bus work.
• Develop knowledge of substation materials, consumables, and tools.
• Safety-first mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily substation construction activities across multiple installation scopes.
• Interpret IFC drawings and provide input or redlines as experience develops.
• Support installation of conduit, grounding systems, and other substation components.
• Follow direction from Foremen and Supervisors to execute work safely and efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.
• Learn and apply proper construction methods, standards, and safety practices.
• Assist in identifying material and consumable needs for assigned tasks.
• Contribute to a safe and organized work environment by adhering to Aecon’s safety policies.
