Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy seeks a Substation Superintendent to provide technical input for high voltage substations on utility-scale solar and BESS projects. You will supervise field teams, ensure safety, and coordinate with engineering, procurement, and start-up activities to meet schedule and budget.

The role requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, code compliance, and cost control. You will mentor junior staff, manage subcontractors, and collaborate with the Site Manager and owner to

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
• Ability to supervise many employees.
• Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
• Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
• Possess a solid understanding of job costing.
• Relocation to the community of the project site is required.
• May be required to become a qualified individual in pursuit of a company contract licensing, or journeyman or a master electrician license.
• Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
• Knows and understands the required federal and state codes for the project.

Responsibilities

• Tracks schedules for equipment, materials, testing for subcontractors to effectively utilize all resources and maximize production while minimizing costs.
• Trains and implements standardized Work Plans and Work Assists Field Operations Manager in process improvement.
• Acts as an electrical consultant to supervisory and field personnel in electrical circuits, power quality, switchgear installations, transmission lines, and high voltage systems.
• Ensures safe working conditions and enforces safety regulations on site.
• Communicates project status and collaborates with Site Manager and other supervisory staff.
• Mentors Field Coordinator/Field Engineers and General Foremen on scope, costs, quality, and safety.
• Supports energy project energization and commissioning processes with owners and utilities.
• Oversees relay testing, control house design/construction, SCADA install, and fiber installation.
