Job summary

Black & Veatch invites motivated students to join as a Structural Engineer (Substation) Summer Intern. You will assist with design work, analyses, and documentation for critical infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience across disciplines.

Chosen candidates will be located in or relocate to Overland Park (KS), Bloomington (MN), Houston (TX), Austin (TX), College Station (TX), or Dallas (TX). This in-office internship offers mentorship from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Current enrollment in ABET accredited university in Civil Engineering program with a preferred emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• Preference in coursework is at least 1 design course.
• Pre-employment onboarding requirements may include background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search as per laws.

Responsibilities

• Support development of design specifications and contract drawings
• Perform a variety of tasks to support engineering analyses, report production, and designs
• Prepare basic calculations
• Organize and file project materials and references
