HDR is seeking a Substation Site Civil Engineer to join our Power Delivery team in Charlotte. You will lead civil design tasks for high-voltage substations, coordinate with electrical and structural teams, and ensure quality across the project lifecycle from design through commissioning.

Applicants should have a civil engineering background with relevant substation experience, strong communication, and the ability to work independently within HDR's collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and PE license preferred.
• Experience with high-voltage substation site design and grading.
• Familiarity with DOT road access, stormwater, and sediment control standards.
• 5+ years in site civil design for power projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise site civil design tasks including grading and drainage.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary substation teams (electrical, structural, geotechnical).
• Prepare/review construction specifications and permits.
• Monitor best practices and new technologies in substation site design.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multiple projects.
