Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Station Servicer to participate in construction, maintenance, and testing of energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You will inspect and maintain station facilities, respond to emergencies, and coordinate restoration of service.

The role requires the ability to work with voltages, test equipment, and follow safety and NERC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in electrical maintenance.
• Military training or technical work experience valued.
• Experience or potential to progress to Station Servicer roles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair substation facilities and electrical equipment.
• Perform routine and emergency switching operations at substations per procedures.
• Respond to emergency calls and coordinate restoration of service.
• Work on energized equipment following safety and supervision requirements.
• Install and maintain conduit, wiring, batteries, and related equipment.
• Use testing equipment and perform transformer turns ratio, Doble, and resistance tests.
• Document readings and report conditions requiring maintenance.
• Follow DC supply maintenance procedures to support NERC compliance.
