Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a Relay Technician Trainee to gain hands-on experience with substation protection, metering, and control systems. You will train in relay standards, perform diagnostic tests, and assist senior technicians while upholding strict safety standards.

Trainees will work toward journeyman status, with opportunities across the Power Delivery department and exposure to SCADA-enabled control systems in a busy utility environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Certification in electrical apprenticeship or equivalent program.
• Ability to manage workload and use computerized test programs.
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Access).
• Must obtain CDL and maintain good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Attend technician training schools and complete electronic courses in the Relay Technician Trainee program.
• Assist Relay Technicians and Area Relay Technician; keep records and files of work performed.
• Participate in diagnostic testing of substation equipment and related switchgear.
• Operate substation equipment and perform safety-compliant switching and grounding tasks.
• Support remote control and monitoring systems, including SCADA, as assigned.
