Job summary

PacifiCorp invites applicants for the Assistant Station Meter and Relay Technician apprenticeship track. This hands-on role trains under Journeyman Technicians to learn the Meter and Relay trade, with a two-year program and quarterly tests.

After completion, successful trainees advance to Journeyman and join our Power Delivery team in Portland, OR. The position is 100% onsite, requires relocation as training locations vary, and emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a required written examination reflective of AC and DC electrical theory.
• A valid driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to acquire a Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Willingness to relocate to training locations (Klamath Falls, Medford, Roseburg, Yreka).
• Ability to follow safety rules and use PPEs appropriate for work being performed.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Installing, commissioning, testing, adjusting, repairing and replacing protection and control equipment used in high voltage generation plants, transmission and distribution substations.
• Using computers extensively to communicate with substation equipment and to operate test gear.
• Accurately completing maintenance and commissioning forms and submitting them with all test records to the appropriate company departments.
• Routinely operate substation equipment and perform substation switching and grounding as necessary.
• Must be able to lift and move heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
• Demonstrate responsibility for tools, computer, test equipment, and vehicles assigned to them.
