Job summary

PacifiCorp in Preston, Idaho is seeking a Relay Technician Trainee to gain hands-on experience and formal training toward journeyman status, supporting substation protection, control, and metering systems.

You will assist with installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, and repair of relays and metering devices; work with SCADA and remote monitoring; and follow strict safety policies while using test equipment and tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in an electrical apprenticeship or equivalent program.
• Experience with workload management and computerized test programs.
• Basic computer skills with MS Office.
• Valid driving record and ability to obtain CDL.
• Must follow safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of protective relays and metering systems.
• Support remote control and monitoring systems, including SCADA.
• Follow strict safety standards and company policies; operate in confined spaces and at heights.
• Manage tools and test equipment responsibly.
