Job summary

PacifiCorp is offering a Relay Technician Trainee position in Evanston, WY. This role trains through hands-on experience, coursework, and mentorship to support substation protection, control, and metering systems.

You will learn relay standards, perform diagnostic testing, assist with installations and maintenance, and gain experience with SCADA and remote monitoring. A CDL and strong safety adherence are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Certification in an electrical apprenticeship program.
• Ability to manage workload with computerized test programs.
• Basic computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Internet).
• Must be able to obtain a CDL.
• Strong ability to follow safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Attend technician training schools to learn relay standards and complete electronic courses as specified for the Relay Technician Trainee program.
• Assist and complete work under the direction of Relay Technicians and Area Relay Technician as outlined on the Relay Technicians' job description.
• Keep and assist relay technicians in keeping records and files of work performed, outages and trouble, and equipment records.
• Under supervision, the trainee participates in diagnostic and analytical testing of substation equipment, including power factor testing, transformer turns ratio testing, insulation resistance testing, and other evaluations.
• Gain experience operating substation equipment, including switching and grounding activities, in accordance with safety protocols.
